Three years after Krispy Kreme returned to Tucson, the remaining two stores have closed.

The stores — 5775 E. Broadway and 8260 N. Cortaro Road — shuttered in the last two days. The sign on the Marana store at Cortaro Road and Interstate 10 was already off the building by Tuesday and most of the furniture and display cases were gone.

In May, franchise owner Dan Brinton (best known to his fans as Doughnut Dan) celebrated his third anniversary in Arizona with a $20 deal that included three dozen doughnuts and a free doughnut and coffee a day for a year.

Officials with the Phoenix locations said no Phoenix area stores have been closed.

Brinton could not be reached for comment this morning. Stay tuned here for updates throughout the day.
