Once a Sundt laborer, Hoover's now president

On Thursday, Sundt Construction announced the appointment of longtime employee Mike Hoover as president.

Hoover, previously Sundt’s executive vice president and chief operating officer for the general contractor’s Civil Group, replaces former Sundt President and CEO David S. Crawford, who retains his chief executive title.

Tom Case, who joined Sundt in March as senior vice president of the Civil Group, will become chief operating officer for that group.

Hoover “joined Sundt as a laborer directly from high school in 1978, while studying mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona in Tucson,” Sundt said in a news release.

“After college, Hoover worked in the field as an engineer and carpenter before returning to Sundt a few years later. Since then, he has held a variety of positions within the company including project engineer, project superintendent, project manager, senior project manager and division manager.”

Hoover will also oversee Sundt’s National Projects Group as well as its Southwest District and safety/quality operations. He is a former chairman of the Highway and Transportation Division of the Associated General Contractors of America.
