Benjamin Fabian Pita

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — Federal authorities say a man wanted in connection with a stabbing in north-central Arizona has been arrested in Tucson.

U.S. Marshals Service officials say 24-year-old Benjamin Fabian Pita has been booked on a federal parole violation warrant.

Pita will remain in their custody until the federal case is adjudicated, then extradited to Yavapai County to face felony charges related to the stabbing.

Cottonwood police say Pita was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the area of State Route 260 on Dec. 8 when he allegedly stabbed the driver numerous times in the face, neck, arm and chest.

The victim survived the attack and has since been released from a hospital.

Pita fled the scene after the stabbing. It was unclear Monday if he has a lawyer yet.
