A woman was killed crossing East Broadway just after midnight Friday in a hit-and run crash, Tucson police say.

The woman, identified as 65-year-old Sook Ja Park, was crossing near South Gollob Road on her way to a friend’s house when she was struck by a SUV, witnesses told investigators.

Passersby were in the eastbound lanes of Broadway rendering aid to the woman when officers arrived at the crash scene, police said in a news release.

The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is believed to be a 2011 to 2016 Jeep Compass or Dodge Journey. It could have significant front-end damage, police said.

The deadly crash is the third pedestrian fatality this year.
