Sept. 18: Pusch Ridge Christian 40, Amphitheater 7
At Amphi, Pusch Ridge won its third game in row and moved to 3-1 on the season in a dominating performance against the winless Panthers. Despite allowing 205 yards rushing, Pusch Ridge was able to halt three Amphi drives inside its own 30, allowing only a third-quarter rushing touchdown. Amphi (0-4) still is searching for their first win of the season; it next faces the undefeated Flowing Wells Caballeros.
Highlight reel
Pusch Ridge running back Tamerat Mcleod caught a beautifully-thrown pass from quarterback Cody Cropp on a wheel route and took it 80 yards for a touchdown. The most impressive yard of the play was the last as Mcleod executed a perfect juke at the one yard line, making an Amphitheater defender stumble, allowing McLeod to walk into the end zone.
Player of the game
Mcleod terrorized Amphi on both sides of the ball. In addition to his 80-yard touchdown reception and 34 yards rushing. He also caught an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
