Arizona’s men’s golf team makes its season debut this week at the North Ranch Intercollegiate in Los Angeles. What makes the tournament notable is that coach Jim Anderson’s team will start true freshman George Cunningham in the No. 1 slot. It’s unlikely a freshman has ever been Arizona’s No. 1 golfer in the season opener. Arizona Amateur champion Alex McMahon will play No. 2, and another touted freshman, Peter Koo, will play No. 4.
