Union Pacific Railroad and the Tucson Police Department partnered up Friday to raise awareness of the need for railroad safety on and around the tracks. A locomotive passed by several crossings in the downtown area as TPD officers observed drivers and pedestrians. Violators who crossed the tracks while the railroad guards were still down were cited with a warning. The rail safety event is held once a year.
