Tanque Verde Ranch was recognized by Arizona Bride magazine as the best outdoor reception venue in Arizona.

The publication’s Best of 2015 list was voted on by more than 10,000 readers. Tanque Verde Ranch offers 16 wedding venues, seven of which are outdoor, including its newest, Cactus View, which looks out onto the desert and the Rincon Mountains, said Mary Ellen McBee, the ranch’s catering sales manager, in a news release.

joins Trip Advisor Hall

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort was named to Trip Advisor’s Hall of Fame for becoming a five-time winner of the Certificate of Excellence, for receiving consistently top reviews on the travel site, Derek McCann, the resort’s general manager, said in a news release.

Lawyer Burnett lauded by child services group

Randi Burnett of the Tucson law firm Waterfall Economidis Caldwell Hanshaw Villamana was given The Champion for Children & Families award from Child & Family Resources for her hands-on work for children and family issues in Southern Arizona.

Burnett previously worked for the Volunteer Lawyer Program at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, handling family law and minor guardianship cases, training attorney volunteers in domestic relations and developing new pro bono programs to assist low-income individuals. At Waterfall Economidis, she continues to support the rights of families through litigation.

Tibbetts Award going

to GV’s Hydronalix Inc.

Hydronalix Inc. of Green Valley will receive a 2015 Tibbetts Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C., at a White House ceremony on June 15. The award, one of 23 given nationwide, is for exemplary roles in small-business innovation research and small-business technology transfer programs.

Immunization efforts recognized at 2 clinics

Two pediatric clinics in Tucson were recognized by the Arizona Partnership for Immunization’s centers of excellence for achieving 90 percent or higher in their immunization rates and excellence in immunization education.

The Banner-University Medical Group Arizona Elks Pediatrics clinic and Banner-University Medical Group’s Diamond Children’s Multi-Specialty Center were both recognized in the toddler and teen categories.

Tracy Goggin, assistant administrator for the Banner-University Medical Group’s Department of Pediatrics, said the award was made possible by the work of teams including nurse managers Shaun Sabia and Linda Jones, RNs who lead the program; Bridgette Favors, LPN; Melissa Smiddy, LPN; Barbara McCrone, RN; Sharon Baack, LPN; and Chris Nunn, RN.

UA professor awarded Fulbright scholarship

Banner-University Medical Group physician Dr. Craig M. Palmer, a professor of anesthesiology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, was chosen for a Fulbright award to travel to Serbia by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Palmer will provide training through lectures and on-site mentoring for practicing anesthesiologists and trainees in Serbia in the use of anesthesia in obstetrics; help establish and train a core group of faculty members; implement a patient database to accurately track progress; and develop a clinical research service on obstetric anesthesia care.
