Bill Assenmacher, CEO of AID Industries in Tucson, is the Copperpoint Small Business Leader of the Year.

The best local places to work are LeCroy & Milligan Associates, Maximum Impact Physical Therapy Services, Lovitt & Touché and HDS Companies, according to the Tucson Metro Chamber’s prestigious annual Copper Cactus Awards.

The chamber announced 17 award winners at a ceremony Friday evening attended by more than 800 people at Casino Del Sol Resort. The Copper Cactus Awards event, presented by Wells Fargo, celebrates the accomplishments and innovation of Southern Arizona’s locally owned small businesses. Co-sponsors Casino Del Sol Resort and Intuit also supported the awards.

“In any city across the country, small businesses are the biggest employers and the biggest consumers of business-to-business goods and services. You make the local economy work. Once you find your groove, you are among the first to give back to your community and plant your roots more deeply,” Tom McGovern, Tucson Metro Chamber chairman of the board, said in a news release.
