Work is underway on El Rio’s new Cherrybell Community Health Center.

The center, on the southeast corner of 22nd Street and Kino Parkway, will open in early 2018.

Cherrybell Community Health Center will encompass two existing El Rio locations as well as El Rio’s teaching health center. The move is prompted by the Broadway widening project where El Rio’s Broadway site is currently located.

Services will include primary medical care, behavioral health services, dental care, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy. Additionally, patient navigation will be offered, along with referral services, insurance eligibility, nutrition and wellness programs.

“We anticipate 10,000-plus people accessing this El Rio location in the first year it is open,” said El Rio CEO Nancy Johnson. “We are forecasting 25,000 to 30,000 health care visits annually at Cherrybell.”
