Tucson Values Teachers (TVT): The group is asking local residents to help support teachers as they head back to class. TVT will use cash donations to supply teachers with $50 gift cards for classroom needs. Donations may be made through www.TucsonValuesTeachers.org (teachers may register on the same site for a chance to win gift cards). TVT has partnered with community business sponsors including Southern Arizona Leadership Council, the Tucson Association of Realtors, Cox Communications, Tucson Medical Center, Raytheon, Walgreens and others.

Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise: The enterprise presented checks totaling $128,000 on Aug. 9 to four organizations; funds were raised at the 13th annual Desert Diamond Casinos Golf Classic. The tournament’s major sponsors included Hunt Construction/Penta Building Group, Delta Diversified, Konami Gaming, Inc., Scientific Games, Ricor and Pepsi. This year’s fund recipients, all part of the Tohono O’odham Nation, were: Department of Health & Human Services Division of Prevention Kom Ckud Ki: Domestic Violence; Veterans Affairs; and Community Action/Ki:Ki Association.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States: VFW’s national scholarship program for service members and veterans for the 2016 fall semester, conducted with Sport Clips Haircuts, announced that it benefitted two Tucson students: Adam Ratesic, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson, and Michael Salazar, UA.

Pyramid Federal Credit Union: The credit union has officially launched a Miracle Challenge team for a third consecutive year to raise funds that will stay in Tucson and support Tucson Medical Center’s TMC For Children.

SaddleBrooke Troop Support: The nonprofit organization is appealing to local dentists to donate toothbrushes, pastes and floss to be delivered to the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Hospital. Call 818-2389 for info.
