Tucson Values Teachers (TVT): The group is asking local residents to help support teachers as they head back to class. TVT will use cash donations to supply teachers with $50 gift cards for classroom needs. Donations may be made through www.TucsonValuesTeachers.org (teachers may register on the same site for a chance to win gift cards). TVT has partnered with community business sponsors including Southern Arizona Leadership Council, the Tucson Association of Realtors, Cox Communications, Tucson Medical Center, Raytheon, Walgreens and others.
Tohono Oβodham Gaming Enterprise: The enterprise presented checks totaling $128,000 on Aug. 9 to four organizations; funds were raised at the 13th annual Desert Diamond Casinos Golf Classic. The tournamentβs major sponsors included Hunt Construction/Penta Building Group, Delta Diversified, Konami Gaming, Inc., Scientific Games, Ricor and Pepsi. This yearβs fund recipients, all part of the Tohono Oβodham Nation, were: Department of Health & Human Services Division of Prevention Kom Ckud Ki: Domestic Violence; Veterans Affairs; and Community Action/Ki:Ki Association.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States: VFWβs national scholarship program for service members and veterans for the 2016 fall semester, conducted with Sport Clips Haircuts, announced that it benefitted two Tucson students: Adam Ratesic, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson, and Michael Salazar, UA.
Pyramid Federal Credit Union: The credit union has officially launched a Miracle Challenge team for a third consecutive year to raise funds that will stay in Tucson and support Tucson Medical Centerβs TMC For Children.
