Job fair in Tucson today

A job fair today will help formerly incarcerated people find jobs.

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and Second Chance Tucson are hosting the job fair.

More than 40 employers will be at the job fair, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave.

"Part of the mayor's initiatives to help move people out of poverty, these job and resource fairs help people overcome barriers to employment that those returning from incarceration often face," the mayor's office said in a press release. "Also, having a job reduces the risk of recidivism - of re-offending and ending up back behind bars."
