- Hensley Beverage Company: The Arizona company was recognized as the 2017 Tucson Hispanic Chamber’s Arizona Corporation of the Year. The company, founded in 1955, acquired Golden Eagle Distributors – a Tucson-based beer distributor, along with its subsidiary, Spike Beverage Company, a distributor of non-alcohol products — in 2016. Hensley Beverage Company was recognized for its commitment to the communities it serves and for its philanthropy and volunteerism.
- Suspiros Cakes: The gourmet Mexican bakery chain was recognized as the 2017 Tucson Hispanic Chamber Mexican Corporation of the Year. Suspiros Cakes, with shops in 22 states throughout Mexico and five in Arizona, specializes in gourmet cakes and pies and was founded in 2004. Suspiros Cakes was honored for its selection of Southern Arizona for its U.S expansion and for community engagement.
- Lee D. Lambert: The Chancellor of Pima Community College was recognized with the 2017 Tucson Hispanic Chamber La Estrella Award. Lee was recognized for his commitment to improving the educational standards and delivery of education to students at Pima Community College. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber also celebrated his commitment to diversity and inclusion among the faculty, staff and students at PCC.
- Hughes Federal Credit Union: The credit union received a national award for outstanding approaches to technology. The Credit Union National Association Technology Council recognized Hughes for successfully piloting a palm-authentication system to replace passwords. The association is comprised of more than 890 credit unions across the United States.
- Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort: The resort was named one of 10 Best Value Hotels in America by TripAdvisor. The honor is based on traveler reviews and TripAdvisor price comparisons of 200 booking sites for the lowest seasonal hotel rates. To qualify as a Best Value Hotel, a property must have at least 3.5 stars and four bubbles on TripAdvisor, and offer seasonal nightly average rates that are at least 20 percent below the city average and cost less than $300 per night.
- Raytheon Missile Systems:
- The company is celebrating its 10th year in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program. The program recognizes employers that implement and maintain highly effective safety management systems that result in injury rates far below the national average. Raytheon is Star certified by the program. OSHA has recognized only 0.02% of U.S. facilities at that level of safety performance. Raytheon is the largest Star site in OSHA’s Region 9, which includes Arizona, California, Nevada, Hawaii and Guam.
