Laura Banks-Reed: YWCA of Southern Arizona has named Banks-Reed as the 2015 recipient of its Changemaker Award.

Banks-Reed, 94, paved the way for women and underrepresented communities as an educator for more than 39 years and as the first African-American superintendent in Tucson Unified School District, among other accomplishments, YWCA said in a news release.

The award will be presented at the Women’s Leadership Conference on Nov. 3 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

El Rio Community Health Center: Recently earned the 2014 UnitedHealthcare PATH Excellence in Patient Service Award. The award is based on clinical results that measure how successfully practices have closed gaps in patient care.
