Laura Banks-Reed: YWCA of Southern Arizona has named Banks-Reed as the 2015 recipient of its Changemaker Award.
Banks-Reed, 94, paved the way for women and underrepresented communities as an educator for more than 39 years and as the first African-American superintendent in Tucson Unified School District, among other accomplishments, YWCA said in a news release.
The award will be presented at the Womenβs Leadership Conference on Nov. 3 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.
