SCORE works with hundreds of business owners every year in Southern Arizona, and virtually all of them have different goals.

Goals are great when you achieve them, but oftentimes, business owners fall short. Since achieving your goals can be the difference between success and failure, what can you do to improve your chances?

SCORE recommends you watch the Tony Robbins video โ€œHow to Achieve Goalsโ€ (tinyurl.com/jjv36zt).

You will learn that it starts with what Tony calls โ€œchange in the inner gameโ€ โ€” a shift in the way you think.

The first thing you need to do is raise your standards. Most of the standards we live by are limitations we created in our minds a long time ago. We allow those limitations to define who we are and what we can achieve.

People perform at the level they believe they are capable of. By raising your standards of who you believe you are and what you can achieve, it will change your mindset.

Everyone has a list of things they should do, like, โ€œI should lose some weight; I should respond to emails sooner; I should work harder to make more money.โ€ When you think you should do something, you probably wonโ€™t. When you think you must do something, you probably will.

Once you internally believe you must do something, you almost always find a way to make it happen. Apply this to your important goals, and you will achieve almost all of them. For example, โ€œI must lose some weight; I must respond to emails sooner; I must work harder to make more money.โ€

Finally, you cannot just speak the words, you must take action. Never set a goal without taking an action to achieve it.

A small change, coupled with momentum, results in long-lasting, significant change. What is a small action you can take today to move toward something big tomorrow?
