Literacy Connects has unveiled its newly landscaped 2,256-square-foot yard, donated and built by Santa Rita Landscaping.

Literacy Connects won the $15,000 landscape makeover package through Santa Rita Landscapeโ€™s recent Facebook page contest. The annual contest asked people to help select a deserving local nonprofit to receive the makeover.

Garrett Ham, co-owner of Santa Rita Landscaping (with his brother Brian Ham and Richard Spross) said Literacy Connects was selected based on the number of Facebook votes it received as well as its overall landscaping and outdoor space needs.

Santa Rita Landscaping, established in 1985, increased its previous yearsโ€™ donation of $10,000 to $15,000 for this yearโ€™s giveaway. Last yearโ€™s recipient was The Humane Society of Southern Arizona, where a 1,380-square-foot exercise yard for shelter dogs was created at its central location.
