Sherman named to top post
at Sun Corridor Network

The Sun Corridor Network named Michael C. Sherman as executive director. Among other roles, he will work with public and private sector stakeholders to expand gigabit speed connectivity to K-12 public schools, community colleges, libraries and museums in Arizona.

The research and education network is a collaborative effort sponsored by Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.

Sherman most recently was executive manager of the Arizona Department of Administration’s broadband planning and public safety communications department. He spent 27 years at the Salt River Project, including time as director of SRP telecom; and was an account supervisor at McCann-Erickson.

He holds a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Oregon and a master’s of business administration from Arizona State University.

Warren is field manager
at Tucson office of BLM

Melissa Warren is the new field manager for the Bureau of Land Management’s Tucson Field Office. Warren assumes responsibility for more than 600,000 acres of public land throughout Southern Arizona including the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Ironwood Forest National Monument, Las Cienegas National Conservation Area, segments of the Arizona National Scenic Trail and four wilderness areas.

She began her BLM career in 2002 in the Safford Field Office before serving in the Arizona State Office in Phoenix. She takes the Tucson position after serving as a supervisory land law examiner for the BLM’s Idaho State Office in Boise since 2013; and also is a BLM instructor for lands and realty management.

González-Garciá to practice endocrinology at Diamond

The University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics and Diamond Children’s Medical Center welcomes Dr. Zoe González-Garciá as an assistant professor in endocrinology.

As a pediatric endocrinologist, González-Garciá will provide care for children with endocrine disorders such as Type 1 diabetes, thyroid problems, hypoglycemia and obesity, among others. She will care for children with endocrine disorders at the Angel Wing for Children with Diabetes and at Diamond Children’s.

She received her medical degree from Richmond University Medical Center in New York, completed her residency in pediatrics in Puerto Rico and completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Snyder, Rodriguez take on new Banner-University jobs

Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson has named:

  • Kara Snyder
  • as director of nursing for pediatrics.

A registered nurse for nearly 20 years, she has been at the hospital for 11 years as a clinical nurse specialist for trauma/critical care and as director of quality, infection prevention, survey readiness and data analytics for both Banner-UMC and its sister hospital, Banner-University Medical Center South. Most recently she was interim director of women’s and children’s services.

Snyder earned her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Arizona, her master’s in trauma, critical care and emergency nursing from the University of Maryland, and is studying for her Ph.D. in nursing and health-care systems at the University of Colorado Denver.

  • Carla Rodriguez
  • , a neonatal nurse practitioner in the nursery ICU at Diamond Children’s, as director of nursing of women and infant services.

Rodriguez has held several nurse and management roles at Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson over the years. She earned her bachelor of nursing degree through Grand Canyon University and a master’s in nursing from Rush University.
