Transitional homes for people working toward homeownership will be available Sunday, April 1.

The Pima County Community Land Trust built six homes on a previously vacant lot on West Ontario Street in Barrio Hollywood, bordered by Speedway and St. Mary’s Road, west of Interstate 10 to Silverbell Road.

Homes at the Ontario Project are rentals for families interested in homeownership but who need time for credit repair while saving for a down payment or closing costs.

Built by Carrera Custom Homes, Inc., the frame and stucco homes, at 1515 W. Ontario St., are 1,320 square feet and feature three bedrooms, two baths, portico entries and on-site parking.

County funding required the project to benefit low-income families enrolled in the Pima County Community Land Trust’s Stewardship Program, which prepares participants for homeownership through a combination of case management and workshops on topics including financial literacy, home maintenance and financial planning.
