Maria Candeloro, far left, regional manager for Alaska Airlines, talks with Bob and Dorothy Bachler before Tuesdayβs inaugural nonstop flight to San Jose, California, from Tucson International Airport. Tucson hasnβt had nonstop service to San Jose β a popular destination for local tech-company executives β since 2004, when Horizon Air dropped its flight to the Silicon Valley city. The daily flights depart TIA at 7 a.m. and arrive in San Jose at 9:24, with return flights leaving San Jose at 5:35 p.m. and arriving at 7:45. Alaska Air uses 76-passenger Embraer 175 jets, with 12 seats in first class and 64 in coach.
