Sahuarita-based Hydronalix Inc. has been awarded a Navy research and development contract to develop a mobile “gateway buoy” that can support an unmanned underwater vehicle.
The company, which markets robotic rescue watercraft, will build a pair of prototypes to the Naval Air Systems Command under the third phase of the Small Business Innovation Research program. The contract amount was unavailable.
Hydronalix will also design a hull structure along with a hybrid electric propulsion system, as well as integrate buoy communications equipment and control software into the buoy’s modular payload bay, according to a federal contract notice.
