Just in time for the summer heat, customers of Tucson Electric Power can get a free βsmartβ thermostat β while supplies last β through a program to help ratepayers save energy and money.
Any residential customer can sign up to receive one of two available thermostats β a Honeywell model and a Google Nest smart thermostat that each retail for $110 β at no cost through the online TEP Marketplace, at poweredbyefi.org/tep.
The company also offers discounts of up to $35 on a range of other smart thermostats, which can be monitored or controlled remotely and cut power bills by βlearningβ user preferences.
TEP advises participants to make sure the model they select is compatible with their existing heating and air conditioning system, and thermostats must be installed within 60 days of delivery.

TEP is offering the free thermostats and discounts as part of its state-mandated energy-efficiency plan, which also includes discounts on LED light bulbs and rebates for replacing old heating and air-conditioning units with more efficient systems.
