Gabby Macias, center, helps customers James Sutter and his friend Ron M., bottom left, place an order on the new kiosks while Betty Guerra browses the interactive menu at right at McDonald’s, 6651 E. Tanque Verde Road.

An east-side McDonald’s restaurant has become the first in Tucson and one of the first in Arizona equipped with touchscreen kiosks patrons can use to order food and pay.

The McDonald’s at 6651 E. Tanque Verde Road β€” one of 14 in the area owned by Tucson-based McDias Inc. β€” features new, digital self-order kiosks that allow patrons to browse the menu, find new options and customize their meals.

Customers pay from the kiosks with either credit cards or Apple or Android Pay, and orders are delivered to their tables.

The system already is found in nearly 2,600 restaurants around the globe and recently was rolled out in Florida, New York and Southern California.
