- Tucson Electric Power:
- The deadline is approaching for nonprofit groups to apply for $250,000 in grants that TEP will award this year to help improve education, protect th
- e environment and expand limited-income assistance through its new Community Impact Grants. The grants are available to organizations in TEPโs service territory and in the White Mountains communities around its Springerville Generating Station. Applications must be submitted online at tep.com/community by July 27 to be considered for funding. Grants will be awarded this fall through a competitive process. The expanded program replaces the companyโs longstanding Grants that Make a Difference program, which provided $101,000 last year.
- The Tucson Womenโs Club, Catheyโs Sewing & Vacuum, Mamaโs Hawaiian Bar-B-cue and Eegeeโs:
- About 140 volunteers gathered Saturday, July 16, at a Sew-A-Thon sponsored by the club and businesses to sew duffle bags for children in the care of the Department of Child Safety and assisted by Aviva Childrenโs Services.
- Wells Fargo & Co:
- The bank awarded a $10,000 grant to Cienega Watership Partnership through its Environmental Solutions for Communities grant program.
- Bashasโ Family of Stores:
- With wildfire seasons growing longer, Bashasโ is continuing its long-standing partnership with The Salvation Army to collect money to benefit wildfire relief efforts in Arizona. Shoppers can make donations at the register of any Bashasโ, AJโs, or Food City grocery store through the end of July.
- Mama Louisaโs Italian:
- The restaurant at 7574 S. Houghton Road raised money for the Coalition to Salute Americaโs Heroes by donating 20 percent of its July 1 sales, in honor of owner Theresa Moweryโs parents, who are buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
- Green Valley Pecan Co.:
- The company is hosting the 6th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5K on Saturday, July 23, at the Green Valley Pecan Farm to raise money for the Walden Grove High School football team. Find information and register at http://taggrun.com/
- Nationwide Private Client and Crest Insurance:
- The two companies provided a $5,000 grant to Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
- Olive Garden:
- After remodeling its Tucson Mall and East Broadway restaurants, the chain donated the previous furnishings to local Habitat for Humanity ReStore outlets.
- Wienerschnitzel:
- The chainโs second annual Hot Dogs for Homeless Tour raised $70,000 nationally for the nonprofit Skate for Change, $20,000 of which was donated directly by Wienerschnitzel.
