The Boondocks Lounge, largely regarded as Tucson's bastion of live blues music for more than two decades, hosted its final live concert Monday, Sept. 26.

The bar/restaurant at 3306N. First Ave. is expected to remain open through Thursday, Sept. 29, for daytime food service only before closing for good, said owner Cathy Warner.

The Bryan Dean Trio, Monday night regulars at the Boondocks for the past seven or eight years, took the stage Monday night.

The Boondocks has been the featured venue for national and international touring blues artists brought in in cooperation with the Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation. Big name stars including Smokin' Joe Kubek and Bnois King, Joe Louis Walker, Missy Anderson and Kara Grainger have played the lounge alongside a who's-who of Tucson blues artists including Lisa Otey, Amo Chip, The Coolers', The Wayback Machine, Anna Warr and Giant Blues, Grams and Krieger, the Carnivaleros, The Scarlet Lettermen and Nancy McCallion.
