Tucson country singer Drew Cooper got an unexpected belated holiday gift last Friday — more than 24 gallons of gas for under five bucks.
Cooper was filling up at the AMPM station on East Tanque Verde Road near Udall Park around 10 p.m. Friday when he noticed that the pump said $.19 a gallon instead of $1.99. Even $1.99 is a ganga; gas prices have jumped 10 to 15 cents in the past two weeks, topping $2.15 in many places.
Cooper pumped just under 25 gallons. Total cost: $4.86.
He then posted a picture of the pump on Facebook with the caption: "So this happened."
Cooper said the problem appeared to have been fixed not long afterwards, but an assistant manager at the store would not comment on Monday and said the store's manager was unavailable.
