Byrne likely won't leave UA for home

The Oregonian last week listed 10 possible replacements for Oregon State athletic director Bob De Carolis, who was essentially asked to resign last week. The newspaper’s first pick: Arizona AD Greg Byrne, who worked at OSU in the mid-1990s and grew up in nearby Eugene. His wife, Regina, grew up in Junction City, which is about 25 miles from Corvallis. It’s unlikely the Beavers have the overall appeal and the money — Byrne will receive a minimum of $3.5 million from a UA booster’s investment plan in 2021 — to get Byrne back home.
