TheΒ Greg Byrne-returns-to-Oregon scenario was short-lived. West Virginia last week hired Alabama deputy ADΒ Shane LyonsΒ as its new AD. Some had speculated that the Mountaineers would attempt to hire Oregon ADΒ Rob Mullens, a WVU grad and homeboy, which would then open the Ducks job for Byrne, who grew up in Eugene and worked for the Ducks.Β
