Dean honored as Southern Arizona's top coach
Cholla High School boys basketball coach Masai Dean received the Dick McConnell Coach of the Year Award last week in a reception held by Southern Arizona prep basketball coaches. Well deserved. Dean was 25-2. The banquet featured many of the top names in Tucson prep basketball coaching history, including state champ coaches Dwight Rees, Jim Ferguson, Brian Peabody and McConnell, and Cochise College basketball coach Jerry Carrillo, who coached the Apaches to his third NJCAA championship tournament this season.
