Expect this, times ten at this weekend's Gelato Festival America.

Gelato Festival America is back at La Encantada mall this weekend! And if you missed it last year, you're in for a sweet surprise.

The dessert showcase was one of the "coolest" food events we've been to in Tucson. This traveling festival has competitors line up side by side with beautiful cases of gelato that are decked out to the nines, with every flavor you can imagine. Last year we had unlimited tastes from master gelato artisans who traveled here from Italy, working alongside local gelato makers like Frost.

This year's festival will feature a chocolatey mint gelato from the local shop Blue Ice Gelato, a peanutty chocolate caramel crunch from Frost, a Mexican hot chocolate from Love Lee Pies and more. The gelato makers are competing for a shot at participating in the 2021 Gelato Festival World Masters Final in Italy.

Also: This is Tucson's Samantha Munsey and I will be there judging, so come say hi! After you eat for your fill of gelato, check out the new “Buontalenti America" mobile gelato laboratory, a 38-foot Gooseneck expandable trailer equipped with gelato machines and cameras to record the action.

The festival runs Saturday Oct. 27 from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday Oct. 28 from noon to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for kids online before the event. Purchase your tickets here. For more info and a schedule of the entire festivities in Tucson, go to gelatofestivalamerica.com
