Skip the expensive trip to Disneyland

Disney is bringing the joy to you with Disney On Ice: World of Enchantment at the Tucson Convention Center. Watch Mickey and friends share the stage with Ariel; Lightning McQueen and gang; Woody and the rest of the toys; and the snow queen herself, Elsa. Try not to freak out.

• Friday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

• Sunday, Oct. 16, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The case of the Sleepy Hollow

The Case of Sleepy Hollow is a 45-minute show where you become part of the story as you walk through Valley of the Moon. You'll learn if there really is a Headless Horseman. 

Go dressed up in your costume or go in normal clothes, it's up to you. If you can't make it this weekend, go any other weekend in October. Check Valley of the Moon's website for times and dates. 

When: Friday, Oct. 14, 6-8:30 p.m.

Where: Valley of the Moon, 2544 E. Allen Rd.

Cost: General admission is $10, students pay $5 and children (7 and younger) and members are free. You can order your tickets in advance or on the day of the show.

"Hocus Pocus" at a bar!

It's never too early to get spooky. Everyone's favorite sisters are coming to Casa Film Bar for drinks and hot dogs. Watch "Hocus Pocus" for the 100th time (not that we're complaining), grab yourself the Winifred Sanderson Pumpkin Ale and stay for the costume contest and other movies.

Grab the rest of the Pink Ladies

Go to Fox Theatre's "Grease" sing-along event this Saturday. Dress up and sing along to your favorite songs.

Catch "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" at UA

Hey UA students and parents! The Loft Cinema and Cats After Dark are bringing you the perfect movie night. Watch the latest Star Wars movie for free under the beautiful Tucson sky. This event is open to the public but it's family weekend, so enter at your own risk.

When: Friday, Oct. 14, 9-11:30 p.m.

Where: Highland Bowl, Sixth Street and Highland Avenue

Cost: Free and CatCard holders get free popcorn

Start your fall garden

The Tucson Village Farm is having its Annual Winter Vegetable Start Sale. That's cool because Tucson Village Farm already started growing the vegetables for you, so the first part is done.

When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 8-11 a.m.

Where: Tucson Village Farm, 4210 N. Campbell Ave.

Cost: Starts are $4 each or three for $10

Buy yourself a fall plant

You deserve it. Tohono Chul has the best plant sales and there's one going on this weekend. You can buy something called a Ghost Aloe — among others — which just sounds perfect for the time of year.

When: Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to  5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m.

Where: Tohono Chul Propagation Area, 7211 N. Northern Ave.

Cost: Plants cost anywhere between $4 and $45, maybe more. They accept card and cash. 

Go running or not

Monster Mash and 5K/10K Run has a little bit for everyone. Runners can run and everyone else can attend Monster Mash for free food and games. Runners/walkers pay to participate in the run but they'll also get a t-shirt, a medal and a barbecue meal of their choice. 

When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 4-8 p.m. Registration begins at 3 p.m.

Where: Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Rd.

Cost: $45 to participate in the run (register before October 14) and $50 on the day of the run. Register here.

Enjoy another outdoor movie

Take your movie night from the couch to the driving range. Watch "Night at the Museum" for free at the Oro Valley Community Center. Bring something to sit on and something to snack on.

Do the time warp with your friends

Go to Loft Cinema for a night of great pleasure. Loft has been playing Rocky Horror Picture Show for 38 years so it's a guaranteed great time. You're welcome to dress up as your favorite character, join in and have a great time. Pick up a $3 prop bag while you're there.

Watch a classic Disney movie

Take the kids to see the classic 1959 animated classic "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Loft and you'll even get to meet Aurora before the movie. Try not to appear more excited than the children.

When: Sunday, Oct. 16, the princess will be there at 11 a.m. and the movie starts at noon

Enter a miniature world

The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures is bringing you the 2016 Tucson Miniature showcase. You can expect to see dealers showcasing their tiny works, special sales and activities for kids.

The rotunda leads to several galleries of different types and styles of miniatures at the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures, 4455 East Camp Lowell Drive.

When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Learn how to make your own kombucha
