General admission is $3, while children 14 and under and Presidio Trust members admit for free.

On Saturday, April 14, the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum, at 196 N. Court Ave., will welcome Mission Gardens, which will bring foods to taste and information about gardening in Tucson on the Presidio Museum’s April Living History Day, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

It will be the museum's last Living History Day for the season. The series will resume in October, said April Bourie, the Presidio Museum's marketing director.

A lecture about Mission Garden’s role in Tucson's history starts at 11:15 a.m and 1:15 p.m. Children can pot a plant to take home.

Other food tastings that day include hand-made tortillas, pozole, tepary bean hummus, horchata and fresh-made bread. Old and New World foods are compared and presented for attendees to learn more about the ways foods were grown, stored and prepared in the original Presidio.

Living History Day visitors will also experience the day-to-day lives of soldiers and their families who lived in the Presidio in the late 1700s through interactive demonstrations of children’s games and weaving. Soldiers practice their drills and fire a four-pound bronze cannon, a replica of cannons used at the Presidio in the late 1700s.

Other interactive opportunities allow visitors to pump the bellows of the blacksmith’s forge and learn how the soldiers fire their muskets.

Museum tours are also offered at 10:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:45 p.m.

Living History Days is included with the cost of admission. General Public: $5; ages 6-14 years: $1; ages 5 and under: free; Presidio Trust Members: free.
