Also known as the Address Brewing Co., 1702 works out of the pizza joint of the same name just north of the University of Arizona's main campus.

Licensed since last November, the nanobrewery produces a grand total of one to three barrels a month, which tend to go quickly.

"Our very first release sold out within 45 minutes," said Austin Santos, who runs 1702 with co-owner Eric Lepie.

Owned and operated by longtime brewmaster Dennis Arnold, the 18,000-square-foot facility sports 12 in-house beers of all types depending on the season.

The restaurant also supplies beer to Arnold's other restaurant, Gentle Ben's, 865 E. University Blvd.

A big seller this season is the Rich Rod Red, an American amber created in honor of University of Arizona head football coach Rich Rodriguez.

Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays, 11 a.m.-midnight Thursdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.

Borderlands Brewing Co.

Borderlands has operated for the last eight months out of a former produce depot downtown.

The brewery is the brainchild of Myles Stone, a UA medical student, Michael Mallozzi, a microbiologist, and their head of brewing, Blake Collins.

It boasts a rotating list of regular recipes, including a prickly pear wheat beer and a citrus India pale ale dubbed Ol' Loco.

Tap room hours: 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and noon-4 p.m. Saturdays.

Dragoon Brewing Co.

1859 W. Grant Road, Suite 111

Nimbus Brewery first opened its doors in 1996 and now lends its name not only to the brewery and restaurant, but to a bistro at 6464 E. Tanque Verde Road.

Nimbus has a long list of regular brews, including an oatmeal stout and an English ale called Old Monkey Shine.

Thunder Canyon Brewery

7401 N. La Cholla Blvd., Suite 178

797-2652

Steve Tracy is the man behind this brewpub and restaurant at the Foothills Mall, providing a solid place to drink locally made beer for northwest-side residents.

Thunder Canyon wins for the most creative names for its 12 craft beers, sporting the Cuppa Joe Porter, Warhead Stout and Orange U Glad brews.

In 2000, its Warhead Stout took home bronze in the imperial stout category at the World Beer Cup International Beer Competition.

Tracy said plans for a second location are already well under way. The new Thunder Canyon Brewing Co. will be at 220 E. Broadway and should be open by mid-November.

Restaurant hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

ON THE WAY

Sentinel Peak Brewing Co.

1102 W. Grant Road

This nanobrewery is set to open up shop in the old Farmer John meatpacking facility, which serves as home to the annual Slaughter House Halloween haunted house, in addition to special events such as last May's Swagfest with rapper Kirko Bangz.

Two Golder Ranch firefighters, Matt Gordon and Jeremy Hilderbrand, hope to be serving this fall. They plan to go before the Tucson City Council to secure a recommendation for a liquor license on Oct. 23.

Ten Fifty-Five Brew Works

3810 E. 44th St., Suite 315

With Ten Fifty-Five's new digs just a stone's throw from Nimbus' operations, the new brewery might help transform the warehouse district just east of South Palo Verde Road into a destination for craft-beer enthusiasts.

Owners Chris Squires and John Paul Vyborny are avid home brewers who wanted to take their passion to the next level. They hope to open within the next six weeks.

Some of Ten Fifty-Five's specialties will include an imperial ale and a chocolate milk stout.

Corbett Brewing Co.

417 N. Herbert Ave.

We don't know much about this proposed microbrewery, just off North Fourth Avenue next door to the Ordinary Bike Shop.

Calls to Scott Cummings, who applied for the liquor license, have not been returned.

His request was scheduled to go before the City Council on Wednesday after Caliente had gone to press.
