Missy Andersen will return to the Boondocks Lounge on Friday, May 13, to perform tracks from her latest album, β€œIn the Moment.”

A year after she played her first-ever Tucson show at The Boondocks Lounge, San Diego blueswoman Missy Andersen is coming back to town.

She’s doing a KXCI/Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation show at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Boondocks, 3306 N. First Ave. It will be an encore to her show last June when she introduced us to soulful sounds that nabbed her a 2015 Blues Music Awards nomination for best female soul blues artist.

Her latest CD, β€œIn the Moment,” has earned her wide acclaim for its blend of Chicago blues and Memphis soul, with some jazzy New Orleans beats and funky rhythms.

Tickets for the Boondocks show, which will also feature Andersen’s husband, Heine Andersen, are $9 in advance at Boondocks or $12 at the door, with discounts for KXCI and foundation members. Details: 690-0991.
