Final Pops, Winds concerts are here

Tucson's twin parks concert series wrap up this weekend.

• On Saturday, the volunteer Arizona Symphonic Winds turn their attention inward, turning the spotlight on principal trumpet player Carl Fetkenhour. The Winds perform at 7 p.m. at Udall Park, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road.

• On Sunday, the Tucson Pops Orchestra will

play a mix of light classical works and Broadway pieces. The program includes “Lady of Spain,” selections from "Miss Saigon," and Sousa's march “Hands Across the Sea.”

And as he does at every concert, Veres will close with Tchaikovsky's “1812” Overture and “America the Beautiful."

The Pops, comprised mostly of moonlighting Tucson Symphony Orchestra players, performs at 7 p.m. at Reid Park's DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road.
