Mark your calendar β€” Arizona Hops and Vines in Sonoita is celebrating its fifth annual Deck the Halls holiday wine and cookie pairing party on Saturday, Dec. 3, complete with a visit by tipsy Santa, a toy drive and cookie recipes.

And this year, other Sonoita/Elgin wineries are joining the holiday fun. Beginning the weekend of Dec. 3 and continuing every weekend through December, area wineries will offer custom ornaments. Prices vary by winery and organizer Ann Roncone, co-owner/winemaker at Lightning Ridge Cellars, said each ornament will be unique. Her’s will incorporate a wine cork with Lightning Ridge’s logo.

Hops and Vines owners sisters Shannon Zouzoulas and Megan Haller describe Deck the Halls as a β€œgood, old-fashioned Bing Crosby alcohol-soaked Christmas” with a twist: Instead of cheese and crackers served with wine, they are pairing their vintages with holiday cookies baked in Sonoita. And with each cookie, you get the recipe so you can make it at home.

The party, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the winery, 3450 Highway 82 in Sonoita, also includes Hops and Vines’ traditional housemade GlΓΌwein, a German wine meant to be served hot.

The cost is $20 and covers six wine and cookie tastings and a souvenir glass. Kids are free. You can also bring unwrapped new toys for the toy drive to benefit needy families in the area. Details: azhopsandvines.com
