Sons of the Pioneers are slipping into Tucson at the end of January for a show at Old Tucson.

It's a fitting locale for a band that's so closely associated with the Old West. And it's the perfect time of year — Jan. 30, right as their core audience of winter visitors are settling in for their annual three- or four-month stay.

There was a time years ago when Sons of the Pioneers settled in with their fans in Tucson as winter residents of the long-gone Western-themed restaurants Triple C Chuckwagon and Hidden Valley Inn. The group known for its iconic Western songs "Tumbling Tumbleweeds," "Riders In the Sky" and "Cool Water," spent 23 winters in residence here before leaving for good when Hidden Valley Inn closed in early 2006.

The band's last Tucson show was in 2013 , when the 82-year-old ensemble played a Rhythm and Roots show at the Berger Center. The band, whose members in past years has include Roy Rogers, Marty Robbins and Tex Earnhardt, has had a rotating cast of musicians since it was founded in Hollywood's golden ages in the 1930s through '50s.

Tickets for the Sons' Jan. 30 dinner show at Old Tucson at $49.95 per person thru Jan. 1 here; it goes up to $55 on Jan. 2. The price includes a buffet dinner and the show.

The band is expected to perform two 45-minute sets.
