Tucson will host a handful of pretty big names in comedy this summer, starting with Tim Allen this weekend.
Allen, star of the long-running ABC sitcom “Home Improvement,” will play Tucson Music Hall on Saturday, May 19. Also heading our way in the next several months: comic ventriloquist Terry Fator, comedian Kathleen Madigan and the legendary duo of Steve Martin and Martin Short. Here’s the 411 on what you can expect:
- Allen: His punchlines are punctuated with his trademark “har-har-har” grunt and his comedy tends to be Rated R. He takes the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday at Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave. Tickets are $49 to $69 through ticketmaster.com and no one under 18 will be admitted.
- Terry Fator: The comic ventriloquist is bringing Winston the Impersonating Turtle, the big-voiced tiny tyke Emma Taylor and the annoying neighbor Duggie Scott Walker to Desert Diamond Casino, 1100 W. Pima Mine Road, on May 26. Tickets are $15 to $47.50 through startickets.com
- Kathleen Madigan: One of the hardest working female comedians, Madigan crisscrosses the country. She likes to say she splits her time between the road and homes in Los Angeles and her native Missouri, but she’ll tell you when she takes the Rialto Theatre stage June 14 that she pretty much feels comfortable where ever she drops her suitcase. Tickets for Madigan, who has a pretty devoted Tucson following, are $26 to $42 through ticketfly.com or at the Rialto box office, 318 E. Congress St. Details: rialtotheatre.com
- Joe Rogan:
- Veteran standup and sitcom actor brings his “Strange Times 2018” summer and fall tour to Tucson Music Hall on June 29. Tickets on sale Friday, May 18, through ticketmaster.com
- Steve Trevino: The Texas-based comedian confesses that his wife dresses him: “This outfit had a sticky note on it: ‘Saturday.’” His comedy mines those areas we all can relate to — relationships, family, the differences between the sexes. He headlines Rialto Theatre July 21; $24 to $35 at ticketfly.com
- Steve Martin and Martin Short: Seriously, how funny is that going to be when the two iconic “Saturday Night Live” alums, giants on the standup stage and silver screen, share the Tucson Arena stage on Aug. 26? Expect dry wit, silly antics, some banjo picking, singing and impersonations. Tickets are $53 to $173 through ticketmaster.com or the arena, 260 S. Church Ave.
