The bad news for fans of Tucson desert rockers Calexico is that the pair won't be playing with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra on Jan. 19.
The good news: The Indigo Girls are slipping into the slot.
Here's even better news: We get the folk-rock duo on their maiden symphony tour. The pair, which did their first orchestra concert recently with former TSO conductor Robert Bernhardt's Chattanooga Symphony, have a handful of symphony shows before they arrive here. In addition to the TSO, their inaugural symphony tour includes dates with the Dallas Symphony, the Seattle Symphony and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Calexico was announced for the special pops concert last spring, but had to bow out because of a schedule conflict.
Tickets for the Indigo Girls show go on sale Thursday. Ticket prices are still being finalized.
