A couple of months ago, as Pastiche Food and Drink was finding its groove in its newly renovated home on North Campbell Avenue, jazz drummer Pete Swan and a few of his jazz-inclined musician buddies launched a jazz night on Fridays.

Β

It took off and was doing so well that they added Sunday nights.Β

β€œIt’s really quite enjoyable, a really great atmosphere,” said Pastiche owner Patrick Connors. β€œIt’s gone very well. It’s always full, and the music is great.”

Last Sunday, Swan invited Phoenix-area jazz and R&B vocalist Renee PatrickΒ to join in, launching what Connors said will be a regular series that will feature guest artists. He said he is hoping to do the special events every five or six weeks, with ticket prices running $5 to $10. It’s free to sit throughout the dining room, although you won’t be able to see the musicians.

Swan, a drummer who had a standing gig at Old Pueblo Grille for 16 years, performs Friday nights at Pastiche with his namesake trio that includes Scott Black on bass and Angelo Versace on keyboard. They play from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays at the back of the 6,000-square-foot restaurant. Admission is free.

It’s also free on Sundays, with the exception of the special concerts. The group performs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on a small stage tucked into a corner of the dining room.

Pastiche is located at 3025 N. Campbell Ave. For info, call 325-3333.
