The Invisible Theatre has this habit of making our hot summers even hotter.

And we are grateful for it.

The company’s almost-annual Sizzling Summer Sounds launches Thursday, July 6 and keeps the heat on through July 14.

The cabaret series brings in some of Tucson’s top musicians and singers β€” and even a few from out of town.

And to make this a big city kind of experience, IT is teaming up with the Skyline Country Club, which provides the venue, and, if you so desire, a dinner (brunch on Sundays) before the show β€” those folks will be getting primo seats.

Here’s what’s on the cabaret bill:

  • β€œPure Imagination,” 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 6-7. Jack Neubeck, Katherine Byrnes and Daniel β€œSly” Slipetsky team up to croon tunes by award-winning composer Leslie Bricusse. Among his hits: β€œWhat Kind of Fool Am I?”,and β€œPure Imagination” from the β€œWillie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” movie.
  • β€œAn Evening with Steve Ross,” 8 p.m. Saturday, July 8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9. Ross cruises in from the Big Apple, were the New York Times once called him the β€œcrown prince of New York cabaret.” He sings the standards β€” think Gershwin, Porter, Sondheim, Coward β€” with a voice that instantly seduces. His performances will include a tribute to Fred Astaire.
  • β€œReflections,” 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12. Julie Anne, backed up by Richard Katz on keys and Mike Levy on bass, takes a trip through the Great American Songbook.
  • β€œIn the Limelight,” 8 p.m. July 13. Rob Boone, Christine Vivona and Ray Templin jazz things up performing tunes that were made famous in Vaudeville and on Broadway.
  • β€œI Love Paris,” 8 p.m. July 14. Neubeck, Byrnes and Slipetsky return with music with a French flair to celebrate Bastille Day.
