Lo Esencial, a casual Mexican restaurant in the former home of Dove Mountain Grill, has shut down its kitchen while it considers a complete concept change. The staff is bouncing around several ideas and will decide what the concept is going to be in the next few weeks, said Manager Christopher Leonard.
[Update: The new concept will be a brewpub called Dove Mountain Brewing Company, which will open in the next few months.]
In the meantime, the bar will stay open during its regular business hours, 3 p.m. through dinnertime. This is the second concept change for the restaurant in just over two years. Owner Kinney Johnson ran the space as Dove Mountain Grill for nearly five years, until he transformed it into Lo Esencial in December of 2013.
Lo Esencial is located in Marana at 12130 N. Dove Mountain Blvd.
