The folks who brought Tucson Choice Greens and Graze now have the ultimate restaurant mashup: Truland Burgers & Greens.

One diner’s a vegetarian? The other avoids green stuff at all costs? Not a problem at Truland, 7332 N. Oracle Road, which opened July 6.

β€œWe thought if we could combine the two β€” burgers and fries along with fresh chopped salads β€” it would be a popular thing for customers, especially in the northwest area up through Oro Valley, which is underserved,” said Jeff Katz, who owns the eateries with Paolo DeFilippis.

Although Choice Greens and Graze are fast-casual eateries, Truland offers sit-down service, as well as a bar and patio, and can seat about 130 people altogether, Katz said.

While you build your own burgers or salads at Graze and Choice Greens, Truland’s menu features specific combos. You can find sweet potato tots there, too, along with shakes that include sea salt caramel and birthday cake. Its signature dessert: a whopping four-layer, cream-cheese icing-slathered, walnut-studded carrot cake that sells for $10, with $2 of that going to Tucson Values Teachers.

Katz, whose daughter is a second-grade teacher in the Marana area, said when they were considering an organization to support, the choice was obvious.

β€œWe feel that education always needs extra funding,” he said.

Truland is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
