Tucson rising country singer Billy Shaw Jr. is headlining the Maverick Live Country ClubΒ Thursday, Dec. 15, and in the benchmarks of his career thus far, this is a biggie.

Writing on Facebook, Shaw said that when he started his Billy Shaw Jr. Band, one of his goals was to see his name on the Maverick marquee.

"Pretty cool to see this!" he said in a posting that included a photo of the marquee.

Shaw is the frontman of his namesake band that includes bass player Peter J. Gorritz, drummer Carlos Solorzano and lead guitar/vocals Laki Skouras. Shaw also doubles as "fiddle in the middle."Β

Tonight's show starts at 8:30 at the Maverick, 6622 E. Tanque Verde Road. And it's ladies night, which means the Maverick has its "outrun the clock" drink specials all night long and ladies get in free. Click here for details.
