Tucson country music fans should be thrilled this weekend.

Over at the Rialto Theatre’s sister venue, 191 Toole, a former reality TV star-turned country crooner is set to kick things off Thursday, Sept. 28, and on the eve of the 2017 two-day Oro Valley Music Festival, “American Idol” runner-up Lauren Alaina is making her Tucson debut at Desert Diamond Casino.

That’s four straight days of country music.

  • Oro Valley Music Festival opener Kaylor Cox is getting a warm-up Thursday when she opens for “The Bachelorette” Season 12 hopeful Luke Pell, a singer-songwriter from the heart of Texas who’s making his way in country music. Pell’s show is at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rialto Theatre’s sister venue 191 Toole, 191 Toole Ave. Tickets are are $15 to $40 through ticketfly.com

• Alaina, a 22-year-old Georgia native, was just 16 when she came votes shy of winning the “American Idol” crown in 2011. Her major label debut album released months later crashed the charts at No. 2. Her sophomore album “Road Less Traveled” debuted at No. 3 in late January; the title song reached No. 8 on the Billboard country charts.

Alaina takes the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Desert Diamond, 1100 W. Pima Mine Road. Tickets are $10 to $25 through startickets.com
