Nandi plays with a pumpkin in 2014.

Reid Park Zoo has joined forces with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for an evening dedicated to Nandi, the city’s favorite princess pachyderm.

On Saturday, The TSO’s brass quintet will perform an original composition by violinist Michael Fan dubbed “Kalimba Kee: An African Elephant and his Best Friend, a Hippo” in Reid Park Zoo’s Expedition Tanzania area, where Nandi and the rest of the zoo's elephants can be found.

The concert tells the story of Nandi’s family in Africa and was written by Fan with Nandi in mind, according to zoo spokeswoman Clara Cobb.

Guests will get to witness a special training demonstration with the elephants before the concert.

The evening will also include light appetizers and drinks.

Tickets are $40 and $15 for children ages 2-14.

The evening runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the zoo. Register for the event on the Reid Park Zoo website
