Former Sahuarita coach Rodriguez returns to Tucson
David Rodriguez, who rebuilt Sahuarita High’s football program into a state championship contender, moved to Oceanside (Calif.) High School last year and coached the Pirates to nine victories and the San Diego section championship. Rodriguez returned to Tucson last week to spend time with the UA staff during spring drills. He was joined be ex-UA offensive lineman Pulu Poumele, a starting guard during Arizona’s Desert Swarm days.
