UC Irvine vs. Arizona

Arizona head coach Sean Miller talks to his players as they make their way to the bench for a timeout in the first half against UC Irvine at McKale Center, Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, Tucson, Ariz. Kelly Presnell / Arizona Daily Star

While UA coach Sean Miller says he’s had a full complement of players available for practice, having received redshirt guard Dylan Smith back from a concussion and having continued practice availability for the ineligible Allonzo Trier, he’s talking about taking it easy on his seven active players.

“We’ll kind of have two different types of practices,” Miller said earlier this week. “Anytime there’s gonna be contact, it’ll be really short. When it’s not contact, we’re gonna work on things in a different way. That’s what a coach is about a staff about and we’re trying to be as smart as we can.”

More than anything, Miller says, the Wildcats just need to be careful.

“God forbid if anyone else were to get hurt, we would really be in dire straits,” he said. “It’s still early December so we’re trying to be smart but there’s so much of the season left. We have to work to improve.”
