Presidio Museum “soldados” will hold a musket demonstration at the 2024 Celebration of All Things S-cuk Son/Tucson.

Someone’s birthday is coming up.

But no need to scramble for a last minute gift. Your presence is all that’s needed as festivities for the 249th anniversary of Tucson’s founding get underway.

Technically, the big day is Aug. 20, but the Presidio San Agustin del Tucson Museum is getting the party started on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 196 N. Court Ave.

The free event, from 6 to 10 p.m., will honor the many people and cultures that have contributed to the community, a news release said.

Mariachi Estrella Juvenil will kick things off with a live performance at 6, followed by Kolencia Oficio Achalim: Yaqui Deer Dancers from the Old Pascua community at 7. Later in the evening at 8:45, Kevin Pakulis and Friends will take the stage.

As far as eats are concerned, attendees will be treated to free Eegee’s. Fry bread and tacos will also be available for purchase.

In addition to a Presidio Garrison musket demonstration at 8:30, organizations and activities on hand will include:
