Tucson will see much cooler temperatures today than yesterday, followed by a widespread hard freeze tonight, which will be the first of the season for much of Southeast Arizona.

A hard freeze warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Friday for Tucson and the surrounding areas. Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing for several hours, according to the National Weather Service

We'll see chilly temperatures again tomorrow, but temps will climb at least 10 degrees by Saturday and even more heading into next week.

The freezing temperatures will likely damage sensitive plants and outdoor water pipes, according to NWS

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor pipes, pipes should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly, according to NWS
