LaRue could've coached Cornhuskers
During the services and reception for LaRue, former star quarterback Eddie Wilson revealed that LaRue was offered the head coaching job at Nebraska after the UA’s 8-1-1 season in 1961. LaRue never talked about that possibility publicly. “Coach LaRue declined Nebraska’s offer,” said Wilson. “He said he felt indebted to Arizona.” Nebraska hired Hall of Famer Bob Devaney instead.
